Preliminary scope of work |
Na povrchu 7x7 tyto kovy tvoří tzv. magické klastry uspořádané do 2D mříže, představující z hlediska elektronové struktury umělý 2D krystal složený z kvantových teček. Podobné chování lze očekávat i na povrchu 5x5, tentokrát s výhodou menší cely a vyšší reaktivity povrchu.

Preliminary scope of work in English |
The oriented surface Si(111), especially the 7x7 reconstruction, is widely used for growth of atomically defined nanostructures. Aim of the work is to study possible use of metastable reconstructions, namely 5x5, for growth of ordered atomic objects after deposition of IIIA metals. On the 7x7 surface these metals form so called magic clusters ordered in 2D grid, electronically representing artificial 2D crystal of quantum dots. Similar behavior is predicted on the 5x5 surface with advantage of smaller cell and higher reactivity of the surface. For study of interaction scanning tunneling microscope (STM) will be used.
