Diapause is a repeatedly evolved strategy that allows organisms to survive and reproduce under harsh or unpredictable environmental conditions. The aim of this thesis is to explore the developmental mechanisms and evolutionary changes that enable the emergence and maintenance of this adaptation in turtles.
