| Zirkony jsou cenným zdrojem informací o rané historii Země kvůli jejich schopnosti zachovat se napříč geologickými érami. Metoda U-Pb je jednou z nejpřesnějších technik radiometrického datování, které se využívá k určení stáří minerálů obsahujících olovo a uran. Obsahem práce bude sepsání rešerše dostupných studií, vědeckých experimentů a technik využívajících U-Pb datování zirkonů. A dále provést radiometrické stanovení stáří jednoho vzorku z oblasti Acraman Lake v Austrálii s interpretací získaných dat a diskutovat o možnostech a omezeních této metody. |

| Zircons are a valuable source of information about the Earth's early history because of their ability to be preserved across geological eras. The U-Pb method is one of the most accurate radiometric dating techniques used to determine the age of lead- and uranium-bearing minerals. The scope of this thesis will be to write a search of available studies, scientific experiments and techniques using U-Pb dating of zircons. And furthermore, to perform radiometric age determination of one sample from the Acraman Lake area in Australia with interpretation of the data obtained and discuss the possibilities and limitations of this method. |
