A universal cover for a family T of triangles is a convex set that contains a congruent copy of each triangle from T. Park and Cheong conjectured that for any family T of triangles of bounded diameter there is a triangle that forms a universal cover for T of smallest possible area. This conjecture is known to be true only in some special cases, such as the family of triangles that fit in the unit disc. The goal of the thesis will be investigating new families of triangles with bounded diameter and determining whether they have a universal cover of smallest area that is a triangle. |
