Guidelines
Nakonec student provede zjednodušenou kalkulaci prozorovaného toku elektronových a mionových atmosférických neutrin v experiment Hyper-Kamiokande a identifikuje pozorovaný vliv oscilací neutrin.

Preliminary scope of work
Studium toku atmosférických neutrin v experimentu Super-Kamiokande vedlo k objevu jevu zvaného oscilace neutrin.
Preliminary scope of work in English
Study of atmospheric neutrino flux in the Super-Kamiokande experiment led to a discovery of the phenomenon called neutrino oscillation. The observation of oscillation effects has proven the non-zero neutrino mass, currently the only direct proof of physics beyond the Standard Model of particles and their interactions. The Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded for this discovery in 2015.
The Hyper-Kamiokande experiment; currently under construction in Japan, is a multipurpose next generation experiment with a focus on neutrino physics and search for proton decay via detection of Cherenkov light emitted in their interactions. The experiment is built on legacy of Super-Kamiokande, however, its detector is about ten-times larger and features further improvements, such as more efficient light detection. With 260,000 tonnes of ultra pure water, it will be the largest detector ever built.
Within this thesis, the student will learn about the neutrino oscillation phenomenon, the principle of atmospheric neutrino production and the prediction of their flux. Furthermore, he/she will familiarize him/herself with the detection of neutrinos in the Hyper-Kamiokande Cherenkov detector. The student will use acquired knowledge performing simple analysis of the atmospheric neutrino flux in Hyper-Kamiokande, a variation on the measurement, for which Super-Kamiokande was awarded with the Nobel Prize in Physics.
