Guidelines
The aim of this thesis is to implement a user-centered design process in the development of a highly flexible system for streaming data visualization. The project called Pulse is a health metrics visualization platform for the services and applications offered by SAP Concur. These health metrics are gathered from a number of sources using a complex auto-discovery service that serves the data to the front-end application through a unified API. But, product owners and managers have diverse information needs and require visualization components tailored to what is important for their product. This thesis will study the different types of metrics and formats to try and design, create and test suitable visualization components that reflect real time changes of the data coming from the API. Moreover, the thesis will analyze the results of different phases of usability tests with potential users and how they will affect the final designs.
