Preliminary scope of work in English
The bachelor thesis will focus on the environment of high salinity habitats. It will briefly introduce these habitats and general differences in the ability of plants to colonise high salinity sites. It will describe the main stress factors of saline habitats and will focus on sodium toxicity. It will analyze the importance of sodium in plant nutrition, its competition with potassium nutrition and potassium functions in plant metabolism, and analyze mechanisms of sodium toxicity and defense mechanisms. The bachelor thesis will be followed by a master thesis focusing on potassium transporters of the KT/HAK/KUP family.
