Guidelines

Práce má za cíl komparaci motivu deskové hry a hry v kostky ve třech indoevropských mytologiích – hinduistické, keltské a severské – přičemž se bude soustředit i na hrdinskou látku. V hinduismu půjde zejména o epizodu z 2. knihy Mahábháraty a mýtus partie boha Šivy s chotí Párvatí a jeho následky. V keltské (hlavně irské, avšak okrajově i v mladších vrstvách) mytologii o hru o ruku Étain z Tormach Étaine a v severské o hru bohů v eddické písni Völuspá. Kromě těchto stěžejních mýtů bude práce využívat i drobnější zmínky v dalších textech z těchto oblastí, což se týká hlavně výrazně skrovnějšího evropského materiálu. Předmětem práce bude zkoumání vnitřní struktury mýtů, kde se hra často nachází na počátku či ve středu zápletky. Bude se soustředit na význam těchto epizod a jejich pozici v symbolické soustavě dané kultury stejně jako vztahy symbolů uvnitř jednotlivých mýtů. V následujícím kroku se pak pokusí srovnat tyto významy vůči sobě navzájem a zjistit, zda se v nich nacházejí nějaké podobnosti. Naopak se zcela nebude pouštět do oblastí archeologických a historických ani zkoumání rituálu či performativity.
