Preliminary scope of work
Preliminary scope of work in English
The topic of this thesis is the apparent absence of populism from modern Japan. The thesis asks the question why there has not been a populist wave in Japan as it has appeared in Western democracies, even though the political systems of these countries are (at least on paper) quite similar. The thesis analyzes literature on the theory of populism, based on which it then creates a model of populism, which is then compared to modern Japan, and attempts to find out whether this apparent absence of populism is real or if populism has manifested itself in Japan in another form.
