Guidelines |
Timepix3 detectors [1] are hybrid active pixel detectors. As such, they have found many applications in particle physics research, dosimetry and imaging. In particular, one such application is in Compton cameras, where they can be utilized for imaging wide energy spectrum gamma sources.
The purpose of the thesis is to implement a software system capable of controlling and processing outputs from Compton cameras based on Timepix3 detectors. Such system shall be able to: - communicate with a multitude of Timepix3 detectors, configure their acquisition parameters and synchronize their timing, - continuously receive information about particle interactions within Timepix3 detectors and identify groups of events, which correspond with a single gamma source, - based on observations, propose hypotheses for the location of the gamma source in three-dimensional space utilizing various approaches [2], - combine multitude of location proposals together in order to increase approximation precision based on additional assumptions, - visualize proposed hypotheses in a graphical user interface. |
