Preliminary scope of work

Bakalářská práce porovnává studentská protestní hnutí v Československu a v Západním Německu v roce 1968. Hlavní pozornost je upřena na společné a rozdílné rysy dvou hnutí s důrazem na požadavky studentů v obou zemích a na způsob jejich protestů a revolty. Autorka se také zaměřuje na vliv studentských protestů v západních státech a jejich reflexi v Československu a v Západním Německu. Taktéž se zabývá generačním rozporem a jeho významem v protestním hnutí. Práce charakterizuje společenský a politický vývoj v 50. a 60. letech v Československu, Západním Německu a okrajově i v dalších zemích s ohledem na studentské protestní hnutí. V případě Československa je důraz kladen na liberalizační procesy v období Pražského jara a studentské aktivity a jejich roli v období politického uvolňování. V případě Západního Německa je v práci blíže charakterizováno období kancléře Adenauera, společenské změny probíhající v 60. letech v důsledku ekonomického růstu v SRN a hlavní události tohoto období vedoucí k politické krizi. Zároveň základní myšlenky nové levice a teorie Frankfurtské školy jako ideologického základu protestního hnutí v SRN. Kromě porovnání dvou protestních hnutí je také pozornost upřena na vzájemné nedorozumění studentů ze SRN a ČSSR, k němuž docházelo během studentských výměn a konferencí v období 60. let.

Preliminary scope of work in English

The thesis is based on comparison of student protest movements in Czechoslovakia and West Germany in 1968. The main attention is focused on the common and different features of the two movements, with an emphasis on students' demands in both countries and on the way of their protests and revolts. The author also focuses on the influence of student protests in Western states and their reflection in Czechoslovakia and West Germany. It also deals with conflict of young and old generation and its role in the protest movement. The thesis covers social and political development in the 1950s and 1960s in Czechoslovakia, West Germany and important events in other countries in relation to analyzed countries. In the case of Czechoslovakia, the emphasis is put on liberalization process of the Prague Spring and student activities and their role during this process. In the case of West Germany, the work focuses on policy of Chancellor Adenauer, the social changes occurring in the 1960s as a result of economic growth in West Germany and on the main events of this period which lead to a political crisis. At the same time, the basic ideas of the new left and the theory of the Frankfurt School are defined as the ideological basis of the protest movement in Germany. In addition to the comparison of two protest movements, attention is also drawn to the mutual misunderstanding of Czechoslovak and West German students which occurred during student exchanges and conferences in the 1960s.
