Preliminary scope of work
Předmětem této disertační práce je raně středověký latinský spis De locis sanctis (čes. O svatých místech), jehož autorem je irský mnich a opat Adomnán z Iony (624–704). V tomto jedinečném prameni, obsahujícím záznam cesty do Svaté země neznámého galského poutníka Arkulfa, nám Adomnán zanechal vzácné informace o charakteru raně středověkého putování v druhé polovině 7. století a dobové topografii svatých míst spojených s životem, umučením a zmrtvýchvstáním Ježíše Krista. Stěžejním cílem disertační práce je (a) představení Adomnánova spisu De locis sanctis v kontextu dobové iroskotské literární produkce 7. století, (b) předložení nové koncepce jeho žánrového zařazení v kontextu starší písemné tradice a (c) pořízení jeho prvního překladu do češtiny společně s obsáhlým odborným komentářem.
Preliminary scope of work in English
The presented dissertation deals with the work De locis sanctis (On Holy Places) of the monk and abbot Adomnán of Iona (624–704). The work containing a record of the journey to the Holy Land of the unknown Gallic pilgrim Arkulf can be seen as a prominent complex historical source containing information about the character of the early medieval journey in the second half of the 7th century and the topography of the holy places connected with the life, passion, and ressurection of Jesus Christ. The main goals of my doctoral thesis are (a) discussion of Adomnánán's work De locis sanctis in the context of contemporary Iro-Scottish literary production of the 7th century, (b) formulation of a new concept of its genre in the context of older written tradition, and (c) the first translation of De locis sanctis into Czech together with scholarly commentary.
