Preliminary scope of work

Diplomová práce se bude věnovat specifickými interakcemi mezi myrmekofilními brouky z čeledi Staphylinidae a jejich hostiteli. Součástí práce bude terénní sběr vybraných druhů myrmekofilů metodou prosevu sběru okolo hostitelských hnízd. Následně bude pořízen a vyhodnocen záznam reakcí brouků při kontaktu s: 1) hostitelským druhem z vlastní kolonie, 2) hostitelským druhem z cizí kolonie, 3) jiným druhem mravence.

Preliminary scope of work in English

The thesis is going to deal with specific interactions among myrmecophilous Staphylinids and their hosts. The work includes collecting material of selected species in the field using sifting of the debris around host nests. Subsequently the records will be taken and behavioural responses of beetles evaluated. The behavioural tests will be carried out with myrmecophile and (i) ants from host colony, (ii) ants from a different colony of the same species, and (iii) from a different species of ant.
