Preliminary scope of work
Výsledky:Byla zjištěna vysoká informovanost a především zájem rodičů o prevenci zubního kazu u dětí.
Preliminary scope of work in English
Goal:The goal was to summarize and to provide a comprehensive view of the occurrence of dental caries of children. Furthermore, it was to provide and summarize its aetiology and available preventive measures. The aim of the work was also to ascertain the level of awareness and the parental interest regarding the dental heath of the preschool children.
Introduction:The hygiene habitudes developed during the childhood, when the teeth are not permanent, are the prerequisite of healthy and physiologically well developing permanent teeth. Primary prevention should prevail over the eventual and following therapy. Nevertheless, in cases when it is too late for primary prevention it is of an immense importance to heal those teeth and herewith prevent their premature loss.
Methodology:The questionnaire survey method was used in order to obtain and collect the information from parents about the level of their as well as their children’s knowledge of oral hygiene. The questionnaires were handed over to the parents of children that attend both public and private preschools in Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav. It consisted of 28 multiple-choice questions and one open question. 420 questionnaires were distributed and 197 out of them were returned completed correctly. The response rate was 45.9 percent.
Results:It was found that there is a high awareness of that issue and especially that there is a great interest in the prevention of the dental caries of the children. Though, concrete results show a slight deficiency in the hygiene practices on the parental side. It also showed a weakness in the child nutrition in the relation to the dental caries. Neither the options of home nor the clinic fluoride prevention are used for one hundred percent.
Conclusion:Parents are fully responsible for their children and herewith of their health and they are an inseparable part of the cooperation during the prevention of dental diseases of preschool children. Logically both the dentist and the dental hygienist who should be visited by children regularly play important roles, too. The task of the dental hygienist is to inform, motivate and instruct the children themselves as well as the parents. The experts may also contribute to the collective education of the children within institutions, which is one of my plans for the future.
