Preliminary scope of work |
Cílem mé práce bude podrobné zpracování života a novinářské činnosti Carla von Ossietzkého. Zvláštní pozornost bude věnována tomu, jak bylo udělení Nobelovy ceny zobrazováno v dobovém československém tisku (Přítomnost, Lidové noviny, Národní listy, Prager Tagblatt a Prager Presse). |
Preliminary scope of work in English |
Carl von Ossietzky (1889-1938) was a German journalist and pacifist. In 1927 he was named editor-in-chief of the weekly magazine "Die Weltbühne", which was the forum of free expression during the Weimar Republic, particularly for leftist intellectuals. Due to his pacifistic activity he was accused of high treason and arrested by Gestapo several times. In 1933 he was sent to the Sonnenburg concentration camp and later to Esterwegen. He was then released in 1936 due to a strong international campaign for his nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. In November 1936 Ossietzky was given the award for the previous year.
The aim of my thesis is to present the life and work of Carl von Ossietzky and provide an analysis of how contemporary journals (Přítomnost, Lidové noviny, Národní listy, Prager Tagblatt and Prager Presse) perceived Ossietzky's award. |
