Preliminary scope of work in English
Low pressure and atmospheric pressure glow discharge will be used to modify surfaces with the aim of improving their ability to bind proteins and to attach cells. Physisorption vs covalent binding of proteins by plasma modified surfaces will be studied. Efficiency of non-depositing plasma treatment and of thin film deposition will be analyzed. The research will also focus on comparative analysis of effects produced by low pressure and atmospheric pressure discharges on identical surfaces.
