Jednotlivé úlohy jsou následující: - identifikace rodin v hlavním pásu různými metodami; - systematické hledání "zbytků" po starých rodinách v datech Sloan Digital Sky Survey a nejnovějších katalozích drah; - určení fyzikálních parametrů nalezených rodin (albeda, velikostí mateřských těles, spektrálního typu); - simulace dlouhodobého dynamického vývoje syntetických rodin vlivem gravitace, rezonancí a Jarkovského/YORP jevu pomocí numerického integrátoru Swift; - simulace kolizního vývoje pomocí kódu Boulder; - porovnání s pozorovanými rodinami a určení pravděpodobných stáří; - diskuze důsledků pro teorii velkého pozdního bombardování (omezení počtu projektilů, rozpadů kometárních těles apod.) |

Asteroid families are remnants of collisions between asteroids (or comets)
which resulted in a disruption of a parent body (and projectile) and ejection of fragments on heliocentric orbits. The disruptions may range from catastrophic ones, with the largest remnant being only small part of the parent body, to cratering events. The total number of families is about 50, depending on the criteria ― see e.g. the list of families in Nesvorný et al. (2005), Parker et al. (2008) and some additions in Carruba (2010). Note that often we have information on their dynamical ages but vast majority of families are young and definitely cannot be dated back to the Late Heavy Bombardment 4.1 to 3.8 billion years ago. The Late Heavy Bombardment represents a huge flux of cometary impactors striking all populations in the Solar System. According to a "standard" model of the cometary disk (e.g. Vokrouhlický et al. 2008), approximately ~100 families with the parent-body size DPB >= 100 km should be created in the Main Asteroid Belt during the LHB. Moreover, we expect many more DPB >= 100 km families than DPB >= 200 km, because both projectile and target populations have relatively steep SFDs. Both facts ― the total number of LHB families and the ratio between those with DPB >= 100 km and 200 km ― are in a clear contradiction with observations which is a good starting point for research. |
