Preliminary scope of work in English |
The purpose of my thesis is to analyse both the status quo as well as the possible evolution of the policy framework of the environmental migration.
The thesis describes an overview of the historical content of environmental migration, the linkage between environment and migration, which led to the elaboration of a typology of environmental migration. The thesis also characterises the most frequently used definitions of environmental migrants and examines relevant current legislation concerned to environmental migration. It discusses refugee law, statelessness, humanitarian law and human rights law. The thesis also concentrates on possible proposed protection regimes and describes the institutional security of environmental migrants. It focuses mostly on UNHCR, IOM and ICRC. |
