Guidelines

The area of the machine translation between related languages had been investigated in the past for a variety of European languages. The main task of this thesis is to adapt an existing MT system for a pair of related Asian languages (Malayan and Indonesian).
In the theoretical part, the thesis should contain a description of differences between both languages and suggest how to treat the automatic translation of those differences. The practical part will contain the modification of an existing MT system based upon the available technologies for an MT of related languages.
The system contain enough linguistic data which would allow to perform evaluation of the quality of translation and to compare it to the quality of translation for other pairs of related languages implemented in the same system.
