Preliminary scope of work

Práca využije kvalitatívnu analýzu politických dokumentov, správ z regionálnych organizácií (ECOWAS, EÚ) a sekundárne zdroje.
Preliminary scope of work in English
The aim of this thesis is to examine how the European Union's migration policies affect the free movement of people and regional integration in the West African ECOWAS region. The thesis focuses on the relationship between the EU and ECOWAS and examines the possible conflicts between policies and instruments of externalisation of migration and the politics of regional cooperation in the region. The aim is to identify whether EU migration policies promote or undermine regional integration and what impact they have on intra-regional mobility in West Africa.
Research questions:

How does the externalisation of EU migration policies affect the free movement of people within the ECOWAS region?
What are the implications of externalising migration projects on regional integration and cooperation policies within ECOWAS?

Methodology:
The thesis will use qualitative analysis of policy documents, reports from regional organisations (ECOWAS, EU) and secondary sources. A case study of one selected ECOWAS country (e.g. Niger or Senegal) will provide a concrete insight into the implementation of externalisation policies and their impact on local communities and migration.
