Preliminary scope of work

Ptáci řádu pěvci (Passeriformes) mají ve svých zárodečných buňkách jeden chromozom navíc. Tento tzv. "germline-restricted" chromozom je v časném zárodečném vývoji eliminován ze somatických buněk pomocí procesu programované DNA eliminace. Cílem této práce je porozumět mechanismům a evolučním důsledkům programované DNA eliminace u pěvců na molekulární, cytogenetické a buněčné úrovni.

Preliminary scope of work in English

Passerine birds have an additional chromosome in their germ cells. This so called germline-restricted chromosome is eliminated from somatic cells early during embryogenesis through a process called programmed DNA elimination. The aim of this thesis is to understand the mechanisms and evolutionary consequences of programmed DNA elimination in passerine birds on molecular, cytogenetic and cellular levels.
