Preliminary scope of work

Disertační práce by měla podpořit koncept reformy veřejného zdraví v Česku. Disertační práce se bude skládat ze souboru publikovaných článků a bude vycházet z výzkumu v rámci GeoQol Lab.
Rozvoj efektivních dietních strategií a veřejné politiky podporující zdravé stárnutí je proto pochopení sociálních determinantů výběru potravin a změn v preferencích potravin nanejvýš důležité.
Disertační práce by se měla zaměřit na problém veřejného zdraví související s obezitou u starší populace.
Disertační práce si klade za cíl odhadnout prevalenci potravinové nejistoty a jejích souvislostí s charakteristikami kvality života souvisejícími se zdravím u starší populace žijící v městských a venkovských oblastech. Nekvalitní strava je spojena s řadou nepříznivých zdravotních důsledků; adekvátní výživa souvisí s mnoha faktory, včetně geografického přístupu ke zdravým potravinám.
Přístup ke zdravým potravinám může být obzvláště náročný pro starší osoby s omezenou mobilitou, omezeným přístupem ke zdravým potravinám z důvodu nerovnoměrné dostupnosti prodejen potravin v okolí jejich bydliště.

Preliminary scope of work in English

The dissertation should support the concept of public health reform in Czechia. The dissertation will consist of a set of published articles and will be based on research within the GeoQol Lab.
To develop effective dietary strategies and public policy supporting healthy aging, understanding of social determinants of food choices and changes in food preferences is thus of importance.
The public health problem of food insecurity and obesity among the elderly population.
This dissertation aims to estimate the prevalence of food insecurity and its associations with health-related quality of life characteristics among the elderly population living in urban versus rural areas. Poor diet is associated with a number of adverse health outcomes; adequate nutrition is related to a large number of factors, including geographic access to healthy foods.
Access to healthy foods can be especially challenging for elderly individuals with limited access to private or public transport or with their own mobility limitations. In addition, some elderly may have reduced access to healthy foods because of the unavailability of food outlets in their neighborhoods.
