Guidelines |
The goal of this thesis is to investigate the applicability of Solid [1], an ecosystem of decentralized data storage places, for the processing of personal data in the hospitality industry.
The student will get familiar with the domain of hospitality, Property Management Systems, the principles of Linked Data [2] including the RDF data model [3], and with Solid [1]. The student will propose an approach to using Solid for providing the usual hotel operations such as booking, check-in, check-out, viewing, and editing guest information, to hotel guests and hotel staff using a modern property management system while keeping personal data under their owner's control. The student will design, implement and test a proof-of-concept hospitality system to verify the proposed approach, which will be published on GitHub as open-source. This system will be accompanied by the appropriate user, programmer, and administrator documentation. |
