Preliminary scope of work

Cílem práce je analyovat dva romány od Voltaira: první se jmenuje Zadig nebo Destiny (původně Memnon) a pochází z první části Voltairovy tvůrčí éry. Druhý román je Candide nebo Optimismus a pochází z druhé části jeho života. Struktura a charakter těchto dvou děl je podobný: jde o romány, filozofické pohádky, v nichž hrdina cestuje světem, pomyslným vesmírem a zažívá dobrodružství, která obsahují morální a filozofické úvahy. Podobnost umožňuje jejich srovnání z určitého úhlu pohledu, a to z pohledu zastoupení žen. Cílem této eseje není kritizovat nebo uctívat Voltaira a jeho období, ale lépe porozumět názorům Voltaira a společnosti, kterou kritizoval a jejíž podobu. Literárněhistorický kontext doby, díla a autora.

Preliminary scope of work in English

The aim of the thesis is to analyze two novels by Voltaire: the first is called Zadig or Destiny (originally Memnon) and comes from the first part of Voltaire's creative era. The second novel is Candide or Optimism and comes from the second part of his life. The structure and character of these two works are similar: they are novels, philosophical fairy tales, in which the hero travels through the world, an imaginary universe, and experiences adventures that contain moral and philosophical considerations. The similarity makes it possible to compare them from a certain point of view, namely from the point of view of the representation of women. The aim of this essay is not to criticize or venerate Voltaire and his period, but to better understand Voltaire's views and the society he criticized and its form.
