V rámci ptáků, tak jako i u jiných skupin organismů, pozorujeme na mezidruhové úrovni obrovskou variabilitu v životních strategíích (investice do přežítí, růstu a reprodukce) reflektovaných rozdíly v délce dožití a rychlosti života (měřenou například jako úroveň bazálního metabolismu). V souvislosti s různými životními strategiemi (na slow-fast kontinuu) a rozdílnou rychlostí životních procesů se vyvíjí celá řada adaptací, tzv pace of life syndromů (POLS). Cílem práce je podat přehled a kritické zhodocení současných znalostí těchto adaptací, s hlavním zřetelem k fyziologický a behaviorálním POLS.
Preliminary scope of work in English
In birds, as in other groups of organisms, there is a huge variability in life histories (determined as investments in survival, growth and reproduction) reflected by differences in life expectancy and the speed of life. It has been proposed that life histories co-evolve alongside molecular, physiological, and behavioural adaptations, the so-called pace of life syndromes (POLS). The aim of this thesis is to provide an overview and critical evaluation of current knowledge of these adaptations, with the main focus on physiological and behavioral POLS.
