Guidelines |
IVIS is a web framework offering a platform for data visualization and analysis. It uses various technologies, namely Node.js as the server-side runtime, ReactJS library for building UI components and D3 library for creating data visualizations.
The goal of this thesis is to extend IVIS's visualization capabilities by creating a foundation for animated visualization components. The thesis should demonstrate this by providing examples of complex animations of components SVG, PieChart and BarChart with clear UI allowing the user to control the animation. The solution should support both animations over pre-existing data and animations from data generated on the fly. |

S rostoucími objemy shromažďovaných dat se jejich prezentace
a porozumění stává stále více klíčové. Vizualizační frameworky, jako je například IVIS, neustále vyvíjejí nové grafické prezentační metody s cílem zlepšit uživatelskou přívětivost a porozumění. Tato práce rozšiřuje vizualizační platformu IVIS o animace, které přinášejí interaktivní a uživatelsky atraktivní formy prezentace dat. Výsledné animace jsou schopné přehrávat jak v minulosti naměřená tak i v reálném čase generovaná data. Animační rozšíření bylo navrženo tak, aby využilo stávající vizualizační komponenty IVISu. Vyvinuté rozšíření také zahrnuje nové uživatelské rozhraní, umožňující uživatelům animace jednoduše ovládat. Součástí práce jsou i praktické příklady demonstrující možnosti vyvinutého animačního rozšíření. |
Preliminary scope of work in English |
With the growing volumes of collected data, their presentation and understanding
have become much more critical. Visualization frameworks, such as IVIS, continuously develop new ways of graphically presenting data in order to, among other things, improve user experience and data insight. In this thesis, we develop an animation extension for IVIS, which creates a new, interactive and engaging way of exploring data. The resulting animation can play back either time-series or real-time data visualizing their evolution over a period of time. The animation extension relies on already existing IVIS's visualization components. We also focus on developing a new interface allowing the users to control the animation. As part of this thesis, we have designed sample dashboards showcasing the possibilities of the implemented solution. |
