Preliminary scope of work
Mechanismy aversivního učení v souvislosti s aposematickou kořistí jsou prozkoumány převážně několika modelových druzích predátorů, zejména ptáků. Disertační práce rozšiřuje toto spektrum na pavouky. Bude zkoumán vliv jednotlivých složek výstražných signálů na chování těchto predátorů. Hlavním zkoumaným druhem bude skákavka Evarcha arcuata (Araneae: Salticidae), pavouk s výborným zrakem a barevným viděním. Vzhledem k tomu, že pavouci kromě predátorů mohu zastávat i roli kořisti, bude dále zkoumána i funkce varovného zbarvení u této skupiny. Modelovými druhy v tomto případě budou stepníci rodu Eresus (Araneae: Eresidae).
Preliminary scope of work in English
Mechanisms of aversive learning associated with aposematic prey have been mostly studied on several model predator species, especially birds. This doctoral thesis broadens the predatory spectrum to spiders. We will study the effect of individual components of warning signals on these predators. The model species will be jumping spider Evarcha arcuata (Araneae: Salticidae), a spider with excellent sight and colour vision. Concerning that along with being predators, spiders can also play a role of a prey, we will study the function of warning colouration of this group. The model species will be the ladybird spiders (Eresus spp., Araneae: Eresidae).
