Guidelines
Navigation, considered as a description of a path to a user-selected final destination, is a common feature of many current map systems, available in various online applications, smartphones or specialized devices. Although the navigation systems are able to fulfill the routing task sufficiently, a slightly different featureset is still desirable for tourism-oriented applications -- mainly the description and output of the track environment and nearby POIs, comprehensible display of track features important for the chosen mode of transport, including road quality, slope, alternative paths or public transport shortcuts, and rendering viable for being printed on paper for off-line use.

OpenStreetMap project (OSM) has created a vast resource for gathering the relevant POIs and environment information. The main aim of the thesis is to exploit the OSM information to create a track map for a chosen GPX path. The track map will be rendered in a format for easy printing (e.g. with layout corresponding to the track continuity instead of standard geographical coordinates) that includes easily accessible and comprehensible information related to the chosen type of trip, e.g. bicycling, walking or sightseeing.
