| Taxation has massive importance in the economy. The question on how to tax and which way of taxation is the best has been asked for centuries. It is one of the most debated topics in the politics and important field of studies in economics. Good taxation can provide benefit and prosperity to the society, while wrong taxation system can cripple the economy.
In this work, I will examine the how the taxes influenced the business environment in different political and ideological regimes on the example of Škoda company throughout its existence - since the establishment of the firm in the late 19th century till today. The main research question of my thesis can be formulated as follows: How changes in taxation influence the firm’s economic performance from a microeconomic and long-term historical perspective? Contribution To the best of my knowledge, this work is the first microeconomic analysis of the influence of taxation on the economic development of the firm in the Czech historiography. I will rely upon the existing descriptions of tax systems and analysis of the state fiscal policy. Methodology The methodological framework of the project will consist of the combination of approaches traditionally used in historiography, such as description, descriptive analysis and comparison, and of tools of econometric analysis focused on the analysis of the effective taxation. |
