| Preliminary scope of work |
| Cílem této bakalářské práce je stručné zmapování dějin francouzského území v dobách kontaktů s antickým Řeckem. Starověcí Řekové zde obývali především břehy Středozemního moře. Následující text je tudíž zaměřen především na jihovýchodní a jižní Francii neboli, jak říkají Francouzi, na oblast „Midi“. První řádky jsou ale věnovány pravěkým obyvatelům Francie před setkáním s řeckou civilizací. Těžiště práce tvoří doba od počátku řecké kolonizace jižní Galie po její ovládnutí Římem. Další vývoj regionu Midi je stručně nastíněn v závěrečné kapitole. O starověkých dějinách Francie byla v minulém století napsána spousta knih a studií. Mnohé z nich jsou však dnes pozapomenuty. V této bakalářské práci bych některé z nich rád „oživil“. |
| Preliminary scope of work in English |
| The objective of the thesis is to briefly map the history of the French territory during the periods of relations with ancient Greece. Most of this work is dedicated to the South and South-East of France (in French known as the Midi), as the Mediterranean coastline of today’s France was the main area to be colonized by the ancient Greeks.
The first chapter introduces the prehistoric inhabitants of France before making contact with ancient Greece. The thesis focuses on the period which begins with the Grecian colonisation of southern Gaul and ends with its conquest by ancient Rome. Later development of the Midi is outlined in the final chapter. The topic of the history of France in antiquity was subject to many studies in the twentieth century, however, most of them have been forgotten. Therefore, I would like to “revive” some of these studies in my thesis. |
