The goal and the interest of this thesis will be to highlight the interesting but not well-documented topic of the Czechoslovak immigration in France in the second half of the 20th century. Mostly based on the interviews that will be recorded and collected throughout the year, our goal will be first, to understand the reasons for the emigration of Czechoslovak populations to France, when most of the Czech refugees ran away to Germany or even across the Atlantic Ocean. It will be im-portant to figure out how this second wave of emigration began but also all the steps, procedures and risks to make this journey possible. It will also be crucial to fathom the challenges, the prob-lems faced by the migrants when they started to settle down and to highlight the unique situation of moving to France, where the PCF (French Communist Party) had a real influence and to meas-ure and to disclose the difficulties they faced as communist refugees. With these life stories, we will hopefully be able to grasp their new life, as Czech migrants and to get to know their new friends (and enemies) but also their contact with home. Last but not least, the perception of so-cialism and communism by these migrants and how this migration could change their memory and perception of their own country will be a crucial part of this thesis as well as their relation-ships with their new country, whether they were conflictual or consensual.
