Cílem práce je prozkoumat francouzské angažmá v regionu Sahelu. Vzhledem k specifičnosti regionu větší důraz budu klást na bezpečnostní aspekty, ale taky zmíním i rozvojovou pomoc a další činnost Francie na území vybraných států Sahelu (Malí, Niger a Burkina Faso).

Preliminary scope of work

Region Sahelu patří mezi nejméně stabilní a rozvinuté regiony světa. V Nigeru a Mali se situace zhoršila po roce 2011 kvůli politickému vakuu, které vzniklo v Libyi a regionu po svržení Kaddáfího. Mezi základní problémy Mali a Nigeru, které způsobují nestabilitu, lze považovat chudobu, bezpečnostní rizika (nekontrolované protáhlé hranice, terorismus), etnické konflikty a neefektivní fungování státu. Bakalářská práce se soustředí na aktivity USA a Francie při jejich řešení. Cílem práce je definovat základní důvody nestability Nigeru a Mali a rozebrat vojenskou a rozvojovou pomoc těmto zemím ze strany USA a Francie v letech 2005–2014.

Preliminary scope of work in English

The Sahel is one of the most unstable and underdeveloped region of the world. In Niger and Mali situation worsened after the year 2011 because of of the political vacuum, emerged after the overthrow of Gaddafi. Among basic problems of Mali and Niger, causing instability, can be named poverty, security troubles (uncontrolled extensive borders, terrorism), ethnic conflicts and misgovernance. This paper is concentrated on the US and French activities in solving those problems. The aim of the paper is thus defining of the basic problems causing instability of Niger and Mali, and analyse military and development aid aimed at solving those problems by the USA and France in years 2005-2014.
