Preliminary scope of work |
Preliminary scope of work in English |
High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HiPIMS) is used for deposition of thin films of novel materials with enhanced film adhesion, dense film microstructure and controlled phase composition. As examples of materials prepared using the HiPIMS one can quote TiO2, ZrO2, Ta2O5, HfO2 and others.
Apart from sputtering of target material acts during the HiPIMS deposition many furthe processes. These are for example chemisorption of reactive gas molecules, processes of knoc-on and direct implantation of reactive gas atoms and ions into the target. Simulation of these processes is therefore an important guideline for adjustment of macroparameters of the HiPIMS discharge for creation of thin film with the requested properties. The creation of the models of the HiPIMS process is therefore an interesting topic when applying the low-temperature plasma for the material technology. The key tasks for the PhD student will be: - Become familiar with physics HiPIMS process and do the research of literature. - Become familiar with different approaches in modeling of the HiPIMS process during creation of thin films. - Selection of a suitable model for TiO2 and Fe2O3 thin film deposition and its realization. - Comparison of the model results with experiment It is expected that the PhD student participate in international scientific conferences during his/her study. Results of the PhD dissertation will be published in international reviewed journals and presented on international conferences. |
