Preliminary scope of work

Cílem rešerše je shrnout dosavadní poznatky o fyziologických a funkčně anatomických adaptacích nektarivorních ptáků souvisejících s jejich způsobem života. Práce by se měla zaměřit především na poznatky z oblasti energetické bilance, spotřeby kyslíku, trávení, vylučování a osmotické regulace. Zvláštní důraz bude věnován fyziologii a mechanice letu při krmení. Práce by měla obsahovat porovnání mezi třemi velkými fylogenetickými skupinami nektarivorních ptáků, kolibříků, strdimilů a kystráčků.

Preliminary scope of work in English

The aim of the review is to summarize our knowledge on physiological and functional anatomical adaptations of nectarivorous bird related to their behaviour. The study should target mainly on our knowledge of energy balance, oxygen consumption, digestion, excretion and osmoregulation. Special emphasis should be given to flight physiology and mechanics during foraging. The review will contain contain a comparison among three big nectarivorous phylogenetic clades of nectarivorous birds: hummingbirds, sunbirds and honeyeaters.
