Preliminary scope of work |
Preliminary scope of work in English |
The topic is focused on the study of dissociation behaviour of polyelectrolytes and polyelectrolyte gels. Dissociation behaviuor of polyelectrolytes is much more complex than that of simple acids. This is due to mutual proximity of dissociating groups on the polymer chain, It depends for example on the conformation of the macromolecule, on its architecture (linear, branched, network) or the presence of small ions in the solution. Theoretical description of these systems is very limited due to their complexity. In such situation, computer simulations facilitate interpretation and understanding of experimental data. The topic is a part of a more general research projects studied in the lab in collaboration with other European teams. The work will include carrying out the simulations and/or experiments, analysis and interpretation of results. If desired, some programming and implementation of new simulation algorithms or method development can also be involved. The exact specifications will be adjusted according to specific needs of the student who will work on the topic. |
