Preliminary scope of work
Díla, která budou v této práci analyzována, interpretována a probrána jsou Širé Sargasové moře, Kvartet a The Voyage in the Dark.
Preliminary scope of work in English
The main objective of the diploma thesis will be a study and an anaylsis of Jean Rhys´s perception of women and especially the ways in which she portrays them and the roles she assigns to them through female characters in some of her works. A closer analysis of the intertextuality between Jean Rhys´s novel Wide Sargasso Sea and Charlotte Brontë´s Jane Eyre will be conducted to introduce themes of female madness and wrath. The thesis will also touch upon themes connected to postcolonial theory. Works which will be discussed in the thesis are Wide Sargasso Sea, Quartet, and Voyage in the Dark.
