Guidelines
Flow visualisation techniques have recently been applied for the investigation of various cryogenic flows of liquid helium. One of them, particle tracking velocimetry technique with frozen flakes of hydrogen and hydrogen-deuterium mixture of micron size as tracers, has recently been implemented in our Laboratory and will be utilized for the analysis of selected flows of superfluid helium. The results will be compared with complementary experiments in classical viscous fluids. The technique will be optimised in various ways, in view of a number of technical and fundamental difficulties.
