Suggestions to education (Both semesters)

When the course guarantor is selected, comments will be displayed regarding his/her teaching performance as well as that of all the other teachers teaching the course. If a teacher who is not the course guarantor is selected, only comments related to his/her teaching will be displayed.

| The goal of the tutorials was to give us problems to do at home and then show them on the board. Some problems were doable (prove some basic properties from definition or apply some theorems from the lecture), but quite a lot of them were impossible to do (Obstacle problem, Navier Stokes, Nemytskii operators, lower-semicontinuity for convex functionals). Thus we lost motivation to even try the problems. A lot of them used tricks we've never used before (or more general results we don't even know like generalised dominated convergence).
But the teacher was always excited to show and explain us the solutions. As he said, it's good for us to be exposed to hard stuff, even if we cannot do it, so when we see it next time, we'll be less scared. But maybe next time don't expect 1st year graduates to figure these out. Maybe the way to go is to give to each student one such hard problem to study thoroughly and then show and explain the solution on the board. Overall the tutorials were great and had a really nice atmosphere. |
