Zásady pro vypracování |
V rámci této doktorské práce bude studována struktura povrchů planárních krystalických modelových systémů pro heterogenní katalýzu a čidla. Zejména půjde o tenké vrstvy kovů a vodivých oxidů, např. částečně redukovaných oxidů CeO2 a V2O5, na orientovaných površích monokrystalických substrátů z platiny, mědi a vanadu. Předmětem této práce bude:
1. počítačové modelování intenzitních profilů (I-V křivek) povrchů modelových systémů dle dynamické teorie metody difrakce pomalých elektronů (D-LEED), 2. iterativní hledání vhodných strukturních modelů povrchů připravovaných a měřených metodou LEED pracovníky Skupiny fyziky povrchů KFPP. Modelování bude probíhat v zařízení s dedikovanou UHV aparaturou se zařízením LEED s vysokou přesností, vhodným pro analýzu získaných dat dle dynamické teorie difrakce. K záznamu a zpracování dat budou využity existující komerční a vlastní programy, k modelování pak volně šiřitelný balík SATLEED v jazyce Fortran. |

Detailní znalost struktury materiálu v rozsahu několika atomárních vrstev v blízkosti povrchu umožňuje vysvětlení mikroskopických příčin různých makroskopických vlastností včetně adsorpční a katalytické aktivity povrchů.

Physical properties of the surfaces of solids are the deciding point of interactions of these
materials with their surroundings, namely with gases and liquids. Materials with special properties in this area are being used as catalysts of chemical reactions and as sensors. The material structure on the atomic level is one of the key properties and it can be studied efficiently using the low energy electron diffraction (LEED) method on crystalline model systems in a close co-operation with computer modeling. Detailed knowledge of material structure in the range of a few atomic monolayers in the vicinity of a surface allows uncovering microscopic mechanisms of various macroscopic properties including surface adsorption and catalytic properties. This doctoral research work will play part in a project, where the structure of planar crystalline model systems for heterogeneous catalysis and sensors will be studied. These systems will be, in particular, thin metal films as well as thin films of conductive oxides, e.g. partially reduced CeO2 and V2O5, on oriented faces of single crystal substrates such as Platinum, Copper and Vanadium. Within this doctoral research work the student will: 1. compute intensity profiles (I-V curves) of surfaces of model systems following the dynamical theory of the low energy electron diffraction (D-LEED) method, and 2. iteratively seek the suitable structural models of systems prepared and measured by the Surface Physics Laboratory team members using the LEED method. The computation will be carried out in an establishment with a dedicated UHV system equipped with a high precision LEED instrument producing data suitable for analysis using the dynamical theory of diffraction. Existing commercial and user-made programs will be used for data acquisition and analysis, while the computer modeling shall exploit the freely distributed SATLEED package in Fortran. http://physics.mff.cuni.cz/kfpp/php/dis-abs.php?id=265 |
