Předběžná náplň práce

Bakalářská práce Srovnání amerických protiválečných protestních písní v reakci na válku ve Vietnamu a druhou válku v Iráku se soustředí na protest songy a protiválečný aktivismus ze zmíněných období a stručně se věnuje i samotným historickým obdobím. Pro účely této práce je válka ve Vietnamu ohraničena lety 1963-1973 a druhá válka v Iráku lety 2003-2011. Protestní písně obecně hrají důležitou roli v rámci americké kultury a mají dlouhou historii. Právě pomocí protest songů je možné si lépe přiblížit tehdejší dobu a jak daná doba byla vnímána obyčejnými občany. Cílem práce je srovnání protest songů ze sledovaných období a popsat, jak zahraniční politika USA ovlivňovala tvorbu vybraných umělců. Výsledky byly získány pomocí obsahové analýzy konkrétních písní a komparací. Skrze analýzu a komparaci byla zjištěna určitá kontinuita i vývoj protestních písní. Důležitými tématy písní pro obě období byly nedůvěra vůči vládě, prezidentovi, či bohaté elitě a využívání občanů na základě jejich společenského postavení nebo/a věku. Dalším signifikantním tématem bylo rozlišení mezi antagonistou a obětí v písních – v písních z období druhé války v Iráku je antagonista popsán mnohem více konkrétně. Faktory, které zásadně ovlivňovaly tyto tři zmíněná témata, byly povinná vojenská služba během Vietnamu a z pohledu umělců imperialistická povaha obou konfliktů.

Předběžná náplň práce v anglickém jazyce

The bachelor thesis Comparison of American anti-war protest songs reacting to the Vietnam War and the second war in Iraq is focused on protest songs and anti-war activism from the mentioned time periods and it also briefly informs on the historical periods. For the purposes of this thesis the war in Vietnam is understood within the years 1963 and 1973 and the second war in Iraq within the years 2003 and 2011. Protest songs in general play a significant role in the American culture and they have a long history. Thanks to protest songs it is easier to understand the given period and how the period was perceived by the common citizens. The aim of the thesis is the comparison of protest songs from the described periods and the description of how the U. S. foreign policy influenced the works of selected artists. The results were acquired through content analysis of specific songs and comparison. Through this analysis and comparison, a certain continuity and development of protest songs was discovered. Important topics in songs from both periods were the distrust in government, president or the wealthy elite and the exploitation of citizens based on their social status or/and age. Another significant topic was the distinction between the antagonist and the victims in the songs – in the songs from the second war in Iraq period the antagonist is described more specifically. Factors that significantly influenced these three mentioned topics were the compulsory military service during the Vietnam War and the imperialistic nature of both conflicts as they were perceived by the artists.
