| Těžišti této práce jsou romány Příběh služebnice a Svědectví Margaret Atwoodové. Hlavním záměrem je analýza a interpretace totalitního theokratického režimu fiktivní Republiky Gileád a způsobu, jakým zachází se ženami. Autorka této práce představuje paralely mezi touto totalitou a režimy existujícími v minulosti i dnes. V práci jsou zároveň prezentovány ideologie a socio-antropologické mechanismy využité v obou zmíněných románech za účelem interpretace tohoto fiktivního světa a určení, zda je útlak žen v tomto systému náhodný, či zda-li hovoří o metodě a inherentně sexistických / misogynních rysech. Zároveň je v práci zkoumána role žen v destrukci tohoto systému. |

| The focal points of this thesis are Margaret Atwood‘s works The Handmaid's Tale and The Testaments, the main foci of the author being the exploration and interpretation of the of the theocratic-totalitarian regime in the fictitious Republic of Gilead and its treatment of the female segment of the society. The author of this thesis attempts to draw historical parallels between the books and regimes existing in the past and today as well as to present various utilized ideologies and sociology-anthropological mechanisms in order to interpret the gathered data based on the presented theory and to hypothesize whether the oppression of women is coincidental, or whether it speaks of a method, suggesting an underlying, innate sexist/misogynistic characteristic. Furthermore, the role of women in the destruction of the system is explored. |
