Zásady pro vypracování
During the diploma studies the student should learn recently introduced gravity modification called Mimetic Gravity. The next goal is to extend the original setup by adding two novel non-minimal couplings to gravity. These couplings modify the speed of propagation for the cosmological scalar perturbations, the effective Newton constant in the Friedmann equations and most importantly the speed of propagation for gravitational waves along with their coupling to ordinary matter. The student should obtain corresponding actions for the cosmological scalar and tensor perturbations and analyze relevant effects on both classical and quantum level. In particular, the work considers the Cherenkov effect appearing due to the nonstandard propagation of the perturbations.

The discovery of the accelerated expansion of the universe in 1998 still poses one of the major challenges and puzzles for physics. Indeed, the origin of the dark sector consisting out of dark energy and dark matter is still completely unknown. However, this dark sector represents 95% of the energy budget of the universe were we live in. This situation encourages researches to rethink theoretical foundations of gravity and consider gravity modifications.
