komerční subjekty mohou budovat a řídit svou značku. Jedná se tedy o odvětví, které zasahuje
do mnoha oborů, jako například marketing, public relations, mezinárodní vztahy a veřejná a
kulturní diplomacie, ze kterých čerpá poznatky. Přestože se jedná o mladý koncept, existují
již v rámci nation brandingu ucelené teorie a strategické postupy. Mnoho států v současnosti
využívá tyto postupy a nástroje nation brandingu ke stavění, řízení a komunikování své image
a reputace na mezinárodním trhu. První část této práce se zabývá teoretickým rámcem nation
brandingu.
Obsahuje analýzu německé nation brandingové strategie a popisuje jednotlivé
This bachelor thesis focuses on the concept of nation branding and its specific application in
Germany. Nation branding developed rather recently from the idea that states can build and
manage their brand same as commercial subjects. It is therefore a concept that extends to
many other fields, such as marketing, public relations, international relations and public and
cultural diplomacy, from which it draws knowledge. Even though it is a young field, nation
branding already created complex theories and strategic procedures. Lot of states currently
use these procedures and nation branding tools to build, manage and communicate their image
and reputation on the global market. The first part of this thesis handles the theoretical
framework of nation branding. It shortly sums up its history, its roots in other social science
fields, it tries to define nation branding and outline the existing procedures. The second part of
this thesis aims on showcasing the practical functioning of nation branding on the case of
nation brand Germany. It contains an analysis of the German nation branding strategy and it
describes the ways and tools that Germany uses for building and communicating its brand.
Further it identifies the characteristics of the German brand and it discusses the role of nation
branding in global reputation management. The second part of the thesis uses the theoretical
framework outlined in the first part. The conclusion shortly sums up the main findings and
answers the research questions.
