The aim of the thesis is twofold. The first objective is to create a framework for performance evaluation of algorithms for dynamic range reconstruction from single-exposure low dynamic range images, and to use the framework to compare the performance of recently published dynamic range expansion approaches. The second objective is to use the best-performing approach in a mobile camera application for enhancing the dynamic range of the captured images.
