| The thesis will be concerned with financing higher education, with a particular focus on the Czech Republic. At the beginning, a description of the development of funding higher education in the Czech Republic and possible areas for improvement will be given. The aim of the second part is to introduce alternative financing schemes and discuss how successful they have been on the international level. The third part analyses the effects of different financing systems on the participation in higher education and shows why tax-subsidy is not the optimal scheme for the Czech Republic. The data for this analysis is obtained from OECD and CZSO.
