The artistic gymnastics includes physical impacts as a physical force that has a substantial effect on the skeletal system. The mechanical loading induces changes in the bone tissue that lead to its firmer structure. During the sport career, the bone tissue in sportswomen achieves higher bone density and firmer architectonics than in their not excercising peers. The positive adaptation is maintained up to 24 years after their training has ended. The research part provides recent knowledge about the effect the artistic gymnastics has on the bone tissue during childhood and adolescence and how the changes persist till adulthood. For deeper insight in the top level gymnastics the work is supplemented with a questionnaire for 13 former elite female artistic gymnasts (aged 43 - 50 years). The work includes also an orientational questionnaire about eating disorders given to 37 young female sport gymnasts.
