| Vztahy mezi Spojenými státy a Íránem lze dlouhodobě označit jako komplikované, napjaté a nepřátelské. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá americkou zahraniční politikou vůči Íránu v období 2006-2010. Práce se bude skládat ze čtyř kapitol. První se bude zabývat americkým pohledem na věc, tedy kritikou Íránu. Tuto kritiku lze rozdělit na čtyři základní kategorie - destabilizace Blízkého východu, íránský kontroverzní jaderný program, podpora teroristických organizací a porušování lidských práv. Druhá kapitola se pak bude snažit pochopit pohled druhé strany, tedy Íránu. Třetí kapitola bude zaměřená na analýzu důležitých primárních dokumentů, zejména zákonů schválených Kongresem a rezolucí Rady bezpečnosti OSN. Čtvrtá kapitola pak podrobně rozebere americkou zahraniční politiku a zaměří se na její efektivitu.
Tato práce bude mít tři základní cíle. Prvním je prostudovat aktivitu a závěrečné cíle Spojených států a Íránu a najít důvody, proč oba státy přistupují vůči sobě tak nepřátelsky. Zadruhé, analyzovat americkou zahraniční politiku vůči Íránu mezi lety 2006 a 2010 a zodpovědět, jestli byla úspěšná. A konečně, tato práce má za cíl identifikovat zahraničněpolitické alternativy, které by mohly mít úspěch a které by mohly přivést americko-íránské vztahy zpět ze slepé uličky. |

| In the long term, relations between the United States and Iran can be painted as complicated, tense and hostile. This diploma thesis analyzes the American foreign policy towards Iran between 2006 and 2010. This thesis will be separated into four chapters. The first one will be dedicated on the American point of view, that means criticism of Iran. This criticism can be divided into four basic categories - destabilizing of the Middle East, the Iranian controversial nuclear program, supporting terrorist organizations, and human rights violations. The second chapter will try to comprehend the point of view of the other side, that is Iran. The third chapter will be focused on analyzing crucial primary sources, especially the Congress-approved legislation and UN Security Council resolutions. The fourth chapter will analyse the American foreign policy and will concentrate on its effectiveness.
This thesis will have three basic objectives. The first one is to study the activities and ultimate goals of both the United States and Iran, and examine the reasons why both countries approach each other in such a hostile way. Second, analyze the American foreign policy towards Iran between 2006 and 2010 and find out whether it was effective. And finally, this thesis aims at identifying the foreign policy alternatives which could have a success and which could bring the American-Iranian relations out of the dead end. |
