Uvedené poznatky budou získány kombinací terénních pozorování v lomech a studiem vrtných profilů spojeným s odběrem vzorků pro účely mineralogického (RTG, výbrusy), petrografického a geochemického výzkumu (pomocí XRF).
Project focuses on a systematic study of clastic bands in the main coal of the Most Basin with the aim to get new principal data on their mineralogical and geochemical composition, petrography, sedimentary texture, paleontological content, spatial distribution and lateral variability. This type of data will be obtained by a combination of field observations in opencast mines and in borehole sections as well as by use of quite a wide spectrum of instrumental methods to analyse samples taken during the field investigation. These instrumental methods will provide information on mineralogy and petrology (RTG diffraction of whole rock, thin sections) and geochemical composition (XRF). Particular attention will be paid to identification of volcanic material in partings the presence of which has not been proved yet. Results obtained will be interpreted in term of genesis of partings including provenance of the material, paleoenvironment and/or conditions of the deposition of clastics and diagenetic processes. Results will also contribute to much precise characteristics of clastic partings and their reliable interpretation in boreholes. This, in turn will contribute to reinterpretation of paleogeographical and sedimentary evolution of the basin during the deposition of the main coal in the early Miocene.
