Physically-based light transport simulation is an essential ingredient for producing realistic images on the computer. Nonetheless, even after decades of research on this topic, some challenging problems still remain to be solved. This work will mainly focus on reliability, i.e. the ability to handle any input scene and generate the desired output image in an acceptable computation time.
