Guidelines
There are several approaches to conceptual modeling for XML schemas [1]. To be applicable in practice, these approaches need to be supplemented with so called reverse engineering capabilities. Reverse engineering of an XML schema means a reconstruction of its conceptual diagram. The author of the thesis will concentrate on the problem of reverse engineering of a set of given XML schemas. As a conceptual model, the author will consider an ontology. The author will propose a manual reverse engineering method. However, because manual reverse engineering would be time-consuming and error-prone activity, the author will also try to extend his manual method with a semiautomatic method. He or she will utilize existing methods for ontology matching [2].
